On Feb. 27, 2025, Kaseya hosted its first Compliance Summit at the historic Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C. This one-of-a-kind event is the only compliance-focused event designed to focus on small business compliance. The Kaseya Compliance Summit brought together industry experts, managed service providers (MSPs) and other IT professionals to discuss the evolving landscape of cybersecurity and compliance for small businesses.

The summit began with a networking lunch that offered attendees the opportunity to connect before diving into a packed schedule of discussions and presentations. Excitement filled the air as the main stage sessions commenced, drawing a standing-room-only crowd eager to gain insights from top compliance and security leaders.

Kaseya Vice Chairman Fred Voccola’s opening keynote framed the current state of security and compliance for small businesses. He highlighted how the rapid evolution of technology has unlocked new opportunities for small businesses to grow and prosper.

“Technology has enabled small and midsize businesses to enjoy the same productivity gains that have previously benefitted only enterprises,” said Voccola.

He went on to outline the security, economic and regulatory shifts he anticipates will shape the compliance landscape and offered observations about what small businesses and the MSPs that serve them can expect in the future.

Must-see speakers and panels

Throughout the day, leading experts shared actionable insights about small business compliance, including establishing smart processes and navigating complex compliance requirements. The agenda featured a series of impactful presentations and a lively panel discussion.

FedRAMP Decoded: essential insights for modern businesses

David Fairburn, known as “The Father of FedRAMP,” provided an exclusive look into the inner workings of the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) from its initial development to today. He emphasized its role in leveling the playing field for small businesses looking to work with U.S. federal agencies.

“Why is FedRAMP the framework that all other frameworks are measured against?” Fairburn asked. “It’s unbiased regardless of your platform. The process, the way into the market, is the same for everybody.”

Fairburn’s offered a unique ground-up perspective to help attendees understand the purpose of FedRAMP and developing a Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) to achieve compliance as well as how the program assists small businesses in landing big opportunities.

Preparing for StateRAMP: What SMBs supporting local government can do now

State Risk and Authorization Management Program (StateRAMP) Steering Committee member Tony Bai outlined how StateRAMP aligns with FedRAMP, and how small businesses can use StateRAMP compliance as a springboard for FedRAMP compliance.

“What StateRAMP does is help you get your foot in the door,” said Bai. “If you’re StateRAMP authorized, you’re probably 90% of the way to having a fully FedRAMP-compliant package.”

Bai’s side-by-side comparison of FedRAMP and StateRAMP offered attendees a look at the process of becoming StateRAMP-compliant and how small businesses can make the most of their investments in pursuing the designation.

Mastering SOC 2 for SMBs: Efficient compliance without the debt

Jake Nix, Director of the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, shared cost-effective strategies for achieving SOC 2 compliance, and how taking that step opens doors for small businesses. Nix highlighted how MSPs can use compliance as a competitive advantage.

Nix went on to outline the path a small business may go through to progress to alignment with the SOC 2 standard, offering advice on the importance of establishing good processes and investing in good people from the start to minimize complications.

Contracting with confidence: Navigating cybersecurity clauses for SMBs and MSPs

Attorney Jeff Chiow from the law firm Greenberg Traurig provided guidance on how small businesses can efficiently manage cybersecurity clauses in contracts. He emphasized the need for proactive compliance planning to prevent costly setbacks and mitigate the severe consequences of non-compliance, especially for businesses that depend on federal contracts or support federal contractors.

“You’re not going to be able to get a government contract or be a subcontractor to a government contract,” Chiow warned, underscoring the need for compliance readiness.

Chiow emphasized the importance of clearly defining cybersecurity and compliance obligations in contracts. He advised businesses to be strategic and thorough when drafting agreements, ensuring they can meet compliance requirements and protect their interests.

Marquee panel: Compliance and the IT value revolution

A highlight of the day was an expert panel featuring Rusty Goodwin, cyber insurance expert and broker; Will Nobles, Founder & CEO of Vector Choice; and Eric Levitas, Vice President of Business Development at ControlCase.

Moderated by Jon DePerro, Kaseya Vice President of FedRAMP & Compliance Solutions, the lively discussion explored compliance challenges and opportunities for small businesses

Achieving compliance with automation

Max Pruger, Kaseya General Manager of Compliance, wrapped up the main stage program with an informative session about the benefits of harnessing automation to achieve and maintain compliance. He walked attendees through a day in the life of an IT professional using Kaseya Compliance Manager GRC, illustrating how its automated features enable users to deliver comprehensive compliance monitoring and management for small businesses in under 10 minutes.

Pruger provided an overview of the SaaS-based portal, demonstrating how easily IT professionals can set it up, install an agent and initiate a scan to assess around 1,800 security benchmarks. He also highlighted Compliance Manager’s versatility, noting the customizable features it offers to make it simple for IT professionals to deliver precise evaluations and actionable recommendations across a variety of standards. This functionality is particularly valuable for small businesses monitoring compliance with multiple standards and MSPs supporting clients in diverse industries.

The summit concluded with a networking happy hour, where attendees exchanged insights and built new industry connections in the elegant setting of one of D.C.’s most storied hotels.

Truly a must-attend compliance event

The summit emphasized the benefits of small businesses working toward compliance with programs like FedRAMP and StateRAMP, offering insights into potential pitfalls and opportunities. It also showcased how automation can simplify complex processes, equipping small businesses with the tools needed to navigate today’s challenging regulatory landscape.

Kaseya’s Compliance Summit went beyond a typical tech conference. This powerful event focused specifically on the compliance needs of small businesses. The summit educated, connected and empowered small business IT professionals, helping them build confidence in navigating the often-intimidating world of compliance.

In today’s rapidly evolving IT and security management landscape, competitive advantage is an MSP’s golden ticket to success. That’s why Kaseya has dedicated millions of hours and over $12 billion to empower MSPs to be successful. The launch of Kaseya 365 in April 2024 marks the culmination of over 10 years of development, resulting in the world’s first and only comprehensive, fully automated IT and security management platform designed specifically for MSPs. It eradicates inefficiency and high-cost and provides true competitive advantage, allowing MSPs to achieve significantly higher profit margins without needing to acquire a single new customer. This simply cannot be replicated overnight or even months.

Bundle vs. True Value

IT product bundles are nothing new. While a bundle may offer more features and functionality than a standalone product, at the end of the day, it is still just a collection of unique products. Companies like Halo, NinjaOne, and other MSP vendors are coming together to create a bundle by simply assembling unrelated products for sale without any meaningful integrations or cost savings for MSPs.

Kaseya 365 delivers true value. It is not a bundle. As a single license that encapsulates multiple, integrated products, Kaseya 365 provides MSPs everything they need to manage, secure, back up, and automate all their customers’ environments. With 20 baked-in AI-powered automations, Kaseya 365 drastically increases efficiency and productivity—all at a fraction of the cost of separate tools. Our primary focus is to make our customers more successful by single-handedly increasing their profit margin. This goal cannot be achieved piecemeal; it requires complete synergy across product development, integrations, and back-office operations.

The Power of Synergy

At Kaseya, we recognize that our partners’ profitability hinges on a seamless operational experience. Our mission is to provide a comprehensive solution that fosters synergy across all aspects of IT and security management. This synergy is not merely a nice-to-have; it’s a necessity for MSPs looking to scale and thrive in today’s competitive environment.

Products like Halo and NinjaOne serve a purpose on their own, but when offered as a patchwork from various sources, they create nothing but inefficiencies and compatibility issues for MSPs. This fragmented approach may have initial appeal when offered as a bundle, but it ultimately leads to significant challenges that only get worse over time.

Innovation = Prosperity

We are proud to say that Kaseya 365 has truly revolutionized the MSP industry. This is the power of innovation. Our competitors are scrambling to adapt to this new MSP golden age that Kaseya 365 has ushered in. However, at the end of the day, our partners’ success is what matters most to us. Kaseya 365 provides MSPs with an unprecedented opportunity to prosper like never before, and we are committed to continuous innovation to ensure that a golden ticket is always in their hands.

As we look to the future, Kaseya remains focused on delivering cutting-edge solutions that address the ever-changing needs of the IT and security management landscape. Our continued investment in research and development ensures that our partners will always benefit from the latest advancements in technology, allowing them to stay ahead of the curve.

Small to midsized businesses (SMBs) are often called the drivers of economic growth and innovation. Unlike big enterprises that have systems and policies firmly rooted in place and may experience change at a slower pace, SMBs move with greater agility and enjoy a rapid pace of growth.

However, they are also vulnerable to major shifts in technology and the economy and must examine their budgets carefully before making a business decision. The Future of IT Survey Report (2024), previously known as the Kaseya IT Operations Survey, aims to provide insights into key trends shaping IT departments at midsized organizations, helping our readers anticipate what lies ahead and align themselves with the larger market direction.

In this blog, we have highlighted the most important takeaways from the report, giving you a quick and easy way to stay informed. We highly recommend that you read the full report to see the complete picture.

Five key insights and observations

Here are five key takeaways from the survey:

AI is the star of the show

Love it or hate it, AI has numerous practical applications. With the ability to automate tedious tasks and speed up processes, it’s no surprise companies are rushing to adopt it. With 28% of organizations focusing on AI and 29% aiming to boost IT productivity through automation, it’s clear that leveraging this new technology to simplify things is a key strategy.

Looking ahead to 2025, automation and AI are poised to be big spend areas, with 40% of the respondents prioritizing investments in IT automation, 37% in AI and machine learning, and 23% in ChatGPT.

Access the full report here to get insights on the impact businesses expect from AI.

Cybersecurity first

Compared to a decade ago, when cybersecurity was an afterthought in IT budgets, it’s now a top priority for organizations. After experiencing some devastating cyberattacks, businesses have learned the hard way that it’s better to take cybersecurity precautions than to deal with an attack after it happens.

Cybersecurity and data protection top the list of concerns, with 48% of organizations identifying this as a primary challenge. As threats from ransomware, phishing and other malicious activities grow, companies are increasingly focusing on enhancing their security measures and investing in advanced protection strategies.

However, it’s encouraging to see that improving IT security is the top priority for nearly half (43%) of respondents in the 2024 report. Key investment areas include email security, endpoint detection and response (EDR), and ransomware protection, which are essential for fighting sophisticated threats.

Download the report for more details on other cybersecurity investments.

Increasing preference for shorter vendor contracts

Respondents have shown an increasing preference for shorter contract periods with vendors. By going for shorter contracts, businesses can adapt to new challenges and opportunities more easily and not be locked into long-term commitments that become less relevant as technology and the market change.

Shorter contracts allow them to pivot quickly and invest in new solutions that better suit their needs, thus helping them to be more agile and competitive in a fast-changing world.

Steady budgets

IT departments have always had to do more with less. Although 21% of organizations see budget constraints as a major issue, budgets for 2024 look relatively stable, suggesting that companies feel better equipped to handle economic challenges and are more optimistic about navigating the uncertainties ahead.

In 2024, 38% of organizations are seeing an increase in their IT budgets, which is a slight dip from 40% in 2023. But here’s the good news: the number of organizations reporting budget cuts has dropped from 18% in 2023 to just 13% in 2024. This trend shows a positive shift in IT spending, with fewer companies scaling back their technology investments.

Unified solutions

SMBs value time, efficiency and speed. One way to achieve all three is to use a unified solution that lets them manage their entire IT from one place. This can’t be done with legacy systems.

That’s why legacy systems holding back growth is one of the top IT challenges for respondents. These old systems are slow, clunky and often incompatible with modern solutions, severely restricting an organization’s ability to innovate and scale. Plus, they are costly to maintain and create inefficiencies that hold back growth.

This is why unified solutions are so valuable. Whether it’s endpoint monitoring, cybersecurity, backup or IT operations, being able to do everything from one place without having to jump between tools is a big advantage for IT departments at SMBs.

At Kaseya, we believe that true partnership is built on trust, mutual support and shared goals. That’s why we’ve introduced the Partner First Pledge — our heartfelt commitment to standing by our managed service providers (MSP) and internal IT teams’ customers every step of the way. Our Partner First Pledge program is all about putting you, our valued customers, at the forefront of everything we do.

While many companies share in the rewards, few extend this ethos to sharing risks. We believe that by standing shoulder to shoulder with our partners, especially in challenging times, we create a more robust and resilient ecosystem. That’s why our Partner First Pledge program is designed to share not just the rewards but also the risks that our partners face.

In this blog, we’ll explain what Kaseya’s Partner First Pledge is, the idea behind it and how we aim to help our customers through it.

Understanding Kaseya’s Partner First Pledge

Kaseya’s Partner First Pledge is a first-of-its-kind program providing unmatched pricing and contract term flexibility and support to our partners, showcasing our commitment to their profitability, performance and success. Our policies are crafted to offer our partners the flexibility they need to adapt to changing circumstances, ensuring our solutions remain aligned with their evolving needs. The policies are:

Competitive one-year contracts

Reduced pricing for one-year contracts, offering affordable access to Kaseya solutions without long-term commitments, allowing partners to adapt to changing business needs.

Month-to-month contracts for Datto BCDR

Reintroduced month-to-month contracts for Datto BCDR, enabling flexible purchasing and renewal options to meet clients’ evolving needs without long-term financial commitments.

FLEXSpend for everything*

Initially launched for the backup suite, FLEXSpend has now expanded to all product suites. Every Kaseya subscription can be moved through the FLEXSpend program, letting partners reallocate spending to other products in the IT Complete portfolio as their business needs change. *Excludes Kaseya 365 subscriptions. Certain terms and conditions apply.

Catastrophic client loss protection

This program is designed to protect our MSP partners should they experience the loss of a single customer whose recurring revenue represents 20% or more of the MSP’s overall revenue. Should a customer of that size be lost, Kaseya will work with the MSP to provide relief.

Price lock guarantee

Many software vendors increase their prices every year, often by 10% or more. In alignment with their commitment to offer partners top-tier solutions at the most competitive prices, Kaseya will cap any increase in current customers’ product pricing to a maximum of 5%, plus any adjustments necessary for inflation at the time of contract renewal.

Kaseya’s Partner First Pledge is our unwavering promise to support our partners at every turn. Our pledge ensures that we stand by our partners, offering the support and resources they need to thrive in this dynamic environment.

The importance of partnerships in IT

Strong partnerships are crucial for driving innovation and success in IT departments and MSPs. These partnerships help tackle challenges such as rapid technological changes, security threats and resource constraints.

By embracing a model of equitable partnership through the Partner First Pledge program, Kaseya ensures that our partners are not alone in facing market uncertainties. While we provide continuous support and share valuable insights to help our partners thrive, we stand by them, making necessary changes and contributions from our side when challenges arise.

This collaborative spirit fosters innovation, as partners are encouraged to take bold steps, knowing they have Kaseya’s backing. This synergy drives progress and sets the stage for sustained growth and advancement for our partner MSPs and internal IT departments.

Benefits of the Partner First Pledge program for IT departments and MSPs

Risk is an inherent part of the IT industry, and how companies manage it can make all the difference. Kaseya’s approach to risk management involves standing with our partners through thick and thin.

Shared risks and rewards

The commitment to share risks and rewards is a balanced approach that ensures our partners do not face the challenges of the industry alone. By taking on a portion of the risks, Kaseya allows partners to engage in ambitious projects with greater confidence.

Enhanced support and collaboration

One of the cornerstones of Kaseya’s Partner First Pledge program is our unwavering commitment to providing top-tier support and resources. Our collaborative approach means that partners are never left to navigate the complexities of the IT landscape on their own. Whether it’s through personalized assistance, expert guidance or proactive problem-solving, Kaseya ensures that our partners have the support they need to thrive.

Innovation and growth

Kaseya’s pledge is also deeply rooted in a commitment to innovation and growth. Our robust suite of tools and solutions is designed to empower IT departments and MSPs to push the boundaries of what’s possible, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and progress.

Kaseya owes its success to its customers and partners

At Kaseya, we recognize that our success is intrinsically linked to the success of our customers and partners. They are the driving force behind our growth and achievements, and their success is a testament to the value of our collaboration.

Our partners provide invaluable insights and feedback that shape our products and services, ensuring they remain relevant and effective in meeting the dynamic needs of the IT industry. This collaborative relationship allows us to stay ahead of technological trends and deliver solutions that truly make a difference.

In return, we offer unwavering support, resources and a commitment to shared success. This means providing our partners with the tools they need to excel, from comprehensive training programs to cutting-edge technologies. Our dedicated support teams are always ready to assist, ensuring that our partners can overcome challenges and seize new opportunities.

Moving forward together

Kaseya is committed to honoring the Partner First Pledge through a series of practical steps designed to reinforce our dedication to mutual success and risk-sharing.

  • Improved service agreements: We have revised our service agreements to offer more flexibility and better terms for our partners. This includes competitive one-year contracts, the reintroduction of month-to-month contracts for Datto BCDR, price lock guarantee and FLEXSpend for everything, ensuring our partners can adapt quickly to changing market conditions without long-term commitments.
  • Risk-sharing initiatives: To support our partners during challenging times, we have introduced programs like “catastrophic client loss protection.”
  • Enhanced training and resources: We are investing in enhanced training programs and resources to empower our partners. This includes comprehensive onboarding processes, regular webinars and access to a rich library of educational materials. Our goal is to equip our partners with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed.

We encourage our partners to engage with Kaseya in these new initiatives and provide feedback to strengthen our collaboration further. Your insights are invaluable in helping us refine our programs and offerings.

Conclusion

The significance of Kaseya’s Partner First Pledge lies in its ability to foster a robust and equitable partnership ecosystem. By committing to share both the rewards and risks with our partners, we create a foundation of mutual trust and support that drives innovation, resilience and growth. Join us on this journey as we work together to achieve more, leveraging our collective strengths to overcome obstacles and seize opportunities.

Navigating Cybersecurity at Kaseya Connect Global 2024

The final day of Kaseya Connect Global 2024 offered a deep dive into cybersecurity, emphasizing how it can transition from a challenge to a significant growth opportunity for managed service providers (MSPs). Among the myriad of insightful sessions, two stood out for their focus on cybersecurity’s evolving landscape and strategic management.

Risky business: Turning cybersecurity challenges into opportunities

Led by Greg Jones, VP of Business Development of EMEA at Kaseya, this session leveraged findings from the 2024 MSP Benchmark Survey to address cybersecurity critical challenges faced by IT professionals. The discussion centered around the increased threat of ransomware, highlighting that cybercrime has recently become more prevalent than other crimes, particularly affecting SMBs, which are often considered soft targets. With over 80% of ransomware victims being small businesses facing an average hourly downtime cost of $8,000 after an attack, the urgency for robust cybersecurity measures is clear.

Jones also discussed building a cybersecurity stack that aligns with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework to target specific concerns, showcasing products like Dark Web ID, Vulscan and BullPhish ID that help identify cybersecurity threats, protect IT environments and govern IT security postures effectively. This holistic approach not only enhances protection but also positions cybersecurity as a driver for business growth.

CISO roundtable: Navigating the cyberthreat landscape

The CISO roundtable featured a robust panel of experts, including Jason Manar, CISO at Kaseya; Lisa Sotto, Partner at Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP; Wes Spencer, Cofounder of Empath and Vice President of Cybersecurity Strategy at CyberFOX; and Rich Tallman, Sr. Director Global Cloud Security and MSP at Bitdefender. They discussed the current cyberthreat landscape, highlighting the need for constant vigilance and improvement in cybersecurity strategies.

Key points addressed included the essential cybersecurity tools that 70% of small businesses and MSPs lack, the importance of having a detailed incident response plan, and the role of cybersecurity insurance. Lisa Sotto emphasized the complexity of navigating the legal landscape, which involves understanding federal laws, state laws and industry standards. Rich Tallman shared insights from his experience running an MSP, stressing the importance of simplifying security solutions to make them more digestible for clients. Jason Manar discussed the strategic importance of security in corporate decision-making and the shared responsibility of cybersecurity between MSPs and their clients. Wes Spencer emphasized that MSPs uncertain about how to begin with cybersecurity should adopt a security framework, as it significantly simplifies the process and greatly enhances their cybersecurity efforts.

Day three highlights and activities

The day began with opening remarks by Holly Pateman, Senior Vice President of Product Marketing at Kaseya, and Joe Smolarski, President and Chief Customer Officer at Kaseya, followed by a sponsor spotlight session with Erwin Visser and Ken Miller from Microsoft, who discussed how Microsoft empowers MSPs to tackle new opportunities in AI. The series of sessions that followed covered a wide range of topics from Microsoft’s AI strategies to advanced threat analysis and cybersecurity best practices.

Beyond the sessions, the day was filled with opportunities for attendees to engage with one another and discuss key takeaways. The expo hall was a hub of activity, with hands-on demonstrations and in-depth discussions with product experts.

A grand finale: Celebrations and closing remarks

The conference wrapped up with a giveaway event hosted by Danny Jenkins, CEO and Co-founder of ThreatLocker, followed by closing remarks from Fred Voccola, CEO of Kaseya. The final lunch and last call for the expo hall provided additional networking opportunities, ending the conference on a high note of community and collaboration.

In conclusion, the third day of Kaseya Connect Global 2024 highlighted the critical role of cybersecurity in today’s IT landscape. It showcased not only the challenges but also the vast opportunities for MSPs to grow and strengthen their offerings in this essential area, underscoring the conference’s overarching theme of leveraging automation and AI to enhance IT operations. As we wrapped up another exhilarating day at Kaseya Connect Global 2024 in Las Vegas, the spotlight was firmly on the transformative power of AI and automation in IT. The day was filled with insightful sessions, but a few in particular showcased the future of IT and security management through the lens of cutting-edge artificial intelligence and autonomous processes.

Harnessing AI and autonomous automation in IT management

During the session “IT & Security Management of Tomorrow, Today with AI and Autonomous Automation,” led by Nadir Merchant, General Manager and CTO at Kaseya, we delved into the rapid evolution of AI within IT. This isn’t just about keeping pace with technology; it’s about setting the stage for a future where AI not only enhances operational efficiency but also pioneers new avenues for innovation and service delivery. Nadir highlighted the integration capabilities of Kaseya’s IT Complete, demonstrating how owning the entire IT toolkit enables seamless, effective integrations that outpace third-party solutions. He also explored the extensive range of workflow integrations available in IT Complete, which currently exceed 1,500. To simplify usage, Kaseya has curated two critical lists for its users: the “Essential 20 Automations” and the “Core 50 Integrations.”

This session also underscored the shift toward a more proactive and predictive IT management framework, leveraging the following automation categories:

  • True-Sync: This category of automations eliminates the manual effort required to maintain updated information across various IT Complete modules. It automatically synchronizes data to ensure consistency and accuracy throughout your IT management system.
  • One Deploy: One Deploy streamlines the deployment of IT infrastructures and manages licensing more efficiently. It automates the processes involved in setting up and maintaining an IT fleet, including software and hardware deployment and license management.
  • Endpoint Shortcut: This category of automations enhances the navigation experience within IT management modules by creating intentional, direct connections. This automation makes it easier for users to access related functionalities quickly and efficiently without navigating through multiple interfaces.
  • SmartLook: SmartLook delivers necessary information directly to technicians, wherever they are, eliminating the need to search through systems or databases. By bringing information directly to the user’s interface, SmartLook significantly reduces time spent on information retrieval.
  • SafeCheck: SafeCheck ensures that devices comply with established IT policies before any critical actions are taken. This automation checks and verifies compliance status to maintain security and operational standards across an IT environment.

Another highlight from this session was the emphasis on IT Glue’s newest feature, IT Glue Copilot, a groundbreaking AI tool designed to enhance IT documentation through smart suggestions and automated asset management. IT Glue Copilot will introduce a new level of efficiency and productivity to IT professionals, proving to be a vital tool in the AI-driven transformation of IT services.

Enhancing backup and recovery with intelligent automation

During the “Automate Your Way to Better Backup & Recovery” session at Kaseya Connect Global 2024, Matthew Brady, Senior Solutions Engineer, and Adam Marget, Product Marketing Manager, both specializing in Unified Backup, highlighted how automation and AI are transforming the backup and recovery landscape. This session emphasized the critical role of advanced technologies in overcoming the challenges posed by today’s complex IT environments, where multi-cloud solutions and hybrid work models are prevalent, and human error contributes to 74% of security breaches.

The introduction of BackupIQ, an intelligence engine for backup and recovery, stood out. This tool automates the management of backups across multiple platforms, ensuring quick recovery within service level agreements and enhancing data security. Features like automated hourly backups for Microsoft Azure and intelligent disaster recovery plans streamline operations and reduce the risk of data loss. BackupIQ also utilizes AI-driven alerts to prioritize issues that threaten compliance with recovery objectives, customizing alert responses based on backup policies. The session also covered self-healing technologies within the Unitrends framework, such as Helix, which proactively resolves system issues to maintain backup integrity without human intervention.

The integration of smart ticketing with BMS and Autotask was also highlighted as a key factor in operational efficiency. This system automates the creation and resolution of tickets based on backup alerts, further reducing the manual workload and aligning with the theme of leveraging automation and AI to enhance IT operations.

Diverse expertise and dynamic discussions

Day two of this year’s Kaseya Connect Global featured an impressive lineup of speakers ranging from industry leaders to technical experts, each bringing a unique perspective to the forefront. Brendan Hunt, best known as Coach Beard from the Apple TV+ sitcom “Ted Lasso,” delivered the Guest Keynote to a standing-room only audience. In addition to his role on screen, Hunt is also a co-creator and writer of the show. He infused humor and creativity into the discussion to share insights about team management and leadership. Other sessions covered a wide array of topics, such as cybersecurity strategies, IT marketing tactics and advanced integrations, reflecting the diverse challenges and opportunities within the IT industry today.

Engagement and entertainment: Beyond the sessions

Amidst the packed schedule of sessions and workshops, Kaseya Connect Global also offered plenty of opportunities for relaxation and networking. Attendees enjoyed coffee breaks and casual meetups between sessions, which provided a great environment for mingling and sharing ideas. The highlight of Wednesday’s social agenda was the much-anticipated Rock IT Party. This event offered not just a chance to unwind but also an opportunity to celebrate our collective achievements and forge deeper connections within the Kaseya community in a festive, enjoyable setting.

Looking ahead

In conclusion, day two at Kaseya Connect Global was not only a deep dive into how AI and autonomous automation are reshaping the IT landscape but also a celebration of community and innovation. It provided a clear view of a future where technology not only supports but also drives business strategy and operations, ensuring that IT departments and the businesses they support are always one step ahead. After a pre-day packed with the annual M&A Symposium and the GlueXperience, the main event of Kaseya Connect Global 2024 kicked off with CEO Fred Voccola’s keynote on Tuesday morning.

Introducing Kaseya 365: A Game-Changer in IT Management & Security

The keynote highlight was Kaseya’s much anticipated industry-changing announcement: The unveiling of Kaseya 365. This cutting-edge platform promises to revolutionize how IT professionals manage, secure, back up and automate their workflows across multiple SaaS applications. Kaseya 365 is designed to enhance efficiency, security and scalability, providing users with a more cohesive and integrated experience and truly transform the unit economics of IT and security management.

“We believe that Kaseya 365 is going to create a new golden age for MSPs,” said Voccola. “MSPs can expect to increase their profit per endpoint by upwards of $10 without adding a single customer or making a single sale.”

Kaseya 365 is a game-changer for MSPs “that will make their lives easier and drive revenue.” Kaseya customers who already subscribe to at least one individual component of Kaseya 365 can easily upgrade to a full Kaseya 365 license with an incremental upfront cost.

Kaseya 365 is available in two tiers. Kaseya 365 Express, which features the core components of comprehensive endpoint management: RMM, advanced software management, antivirus, ransomware detection and endpoint backup, and Kaseya 365 Pro, which includes all of the components of Kaseya 365 Express and adds next-generation endpoint detection and response (EDR).

Kaseya makes Partner First Pledge

While the release of Kaseya 365 was the big news of the day, it wasn’t the only news from Kaseya. Voccola spoke at length about the importance of Kaseya’s investments in its partnership with MSPs, and Kaseya’s commitment to that partnership can be seen in its new Partner First Pledge, which includes:

Profit Loss Protection: Kaseya pledges that it will work with any MSP that experiences the loss of a customer whose services represent 20% or more of the MSP’s spend with Kaseya. Should a customer of that size be lost, Kaseya will adjust the MSP’s license count down to the net amount lost for that account.

Price Lock Guarantee: Many software vendors increase their prices every year, on average by 6 percent. In alignment with their commitment to offer partners top-tier solutions at the most competitive prices, Kaseya will cap any increase in current customers’ product pricing to a maximum of 5%, plus any adjustments necessary for inflation at the time of contract renewal.

“Our price lock guarantee states that we will not raise the price higher than a small amount above the Consumer Price Index,” said Voccola.

In addition, Kaseya has made one-year contracts more affordable and competitive. While one-year contracts have always been available, one-year pricing has been significantly reduced to make it easier for partners to access and benefit from Kaseya solutions with a shorter-term commitment.

Beyond the keynote

Beyond the keynote, the focus of many mainstage presentations on Tuesday was leveraging the power of automation. The benefits that AI and automation bring to the table for the multifunctional IT professional were explored in the Kaseya Product Innovation session. Kaseya has invested heavily in increasing the automation and AI capabilities within its solutions. There are currently over 250 fully built automations available in the IT Complete Automation Universe thanks to that investment.

After the excitement of the keynote, attendees flooded into the bustling exhibition hall. The hall was abuzz with vendors showcasing the latest in IT solutions, tools and services, plus some excellent swag from Kaseya Connect Global’s sponsors. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with technology experts, get hands-on demonstrations and discuss personalized solutions to meet their unique business needs.

Afternoon breakout sessions afforded attendees the opportunity to take deep dives into cybersecurity, automation, business best practices, MSP sales and marketing, and the inner workings of Kaseya 365. These sessions provided valuable learning opportunities, with experts leading informative and interactive discussions. Throughout the afternoon, attendees were also able to further their professional development pursuing Kaseya Certified Expert certifications.

The week ahead

As always, the innovation, networking and deep dives into the future of IT management at Kaseya Connect Global is unparalleled. There is no shortage of ways for attendees to network, learn more about IT and cybersecurity management and see how Kaseya’s cutting-edge solutions could benefit them.

The technology industry continually evolves, and managed service providers (MSPs) are often at the forefront of this transformation. We brought MSPs, investors and other professionals in the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) space together for an exciting pre-day event at Kaseya Connect Global 2024. This dedicated symposium aimed to unpack current trends, challenges and strategies in M&A was tailor-made for MSPs, offering valuable insights into the complexities of acquisitions, mergers and sales in today’s MSP landscape.

Key Themes and Discussions

The M&A Symposium kicked off with an address by Kaseya Chief Executive Officer Fred Voccola outlining the climate in the M&A space as well as his insights into the current market and the challenges that he believes lie ahead. Other experts also offered their insight throughout the day’s sessions.

Understanding Market Dynamics

The symposium opened with a comprehensive analysis of the current market dynamics and a look at how those dynamics may impact MSPs looking to sell their business this year. Many aggregators are looking at a tough financial landscape and growing more cautious in their attitudes toward M&A. Also, a slowdown in the macro-economic climate is translating into delays in aggregators launching new projects. Buyers and sellers were urged to remember that M&A is a numbers game, and they must ensure that they’re calculating their value accurately.

Make due diligence a priority

A central theme of the day was the critical role of strategic fit and due diligence in a successful merger or acquisition. Honest financial assessments are critical, and everyone involved in a deal must do their homework to ensure that the financial picture they have is accurate. Buyers and sellers also must ensure that potential deals align strategically with their long-term goals. Real-life examples illustrated some of the common pitfalls to avoid and smart moves buyers and sellers can make to close a deal that benefits both parties.

“There have been a couple of companies that we looked at where there was blatant fraud, with fake bank accounts and manufactured statements,” cautioned Voccola.

Navigating financial challenges in a tight market

Another focal point was the current financial landscape, which can significantly impact M&A activities. Attendees learned that aggregators or large MSPs have typically been doing an average of five deals per year. However, half of those buyers told Kaseya that they will be slowing down or pausing M&A in the next six to 12 months. This is a good illustration of the precariousness of the market. The M&A slowdown can be attributed to high interest rates, too much competition and challenges in finding the right deals.

Post-merger integration and culture

Post-merger integration was highlighted as a make-or-break factor in the success of M&A deals. Having navigated a successful but extremely complex and challenging transition with Datto, Kaseya’s shared their experiences in taming the rumor mill, managing team integrations and aligning corporate cultures. Hearing these real-life examples and cautionary tales provided attendees with tools to manage change effectively, including how staff from different entities can work together harmoniously and drive the combined entity toward shared goals.

Future outlook and opportunities

The symposium concluded with a forward-looking discussion on the future of M&A in the MSP sector. As technology continues to evolve, MSPs face new challenges and opportunities. The panelists encouraged attendees to think beyond traditional models and consider how innovations like cloud computing, machine learning and IoT could influence future M&A strategies.

The M&A symposium at Kaseya Connect Global 2024 was not just an opportunity to learn about current trends but also a forum for forging new connections and envisioning the future of the MSP industry. As MSPs continue to navigate the intricate landscape of mergers and acquisitions, the knowledge gained from this event is sure to play a role in shaping strategies for growth and innovation.
